Amano Shrimp earned their reputation as a standard algae-eating shrimp in the hobby after aquascape artist Takashi Amano used them extensively in his Nature Aquarium layouts. Their steady appetite for hair algae, thread algae, and biofilm makes them one of the more practical additions to a planted tank.
Larger and more robust than most dwarf shrimp, Amanos are peaceful and hardy, getting along with virtually any non-predatory tankmate. Their translucent gray bodies carry subtle dotted markings, giving them a quiet, understated look that doesn't compete with plants or fish for attention.
