Bamboo Shrimp also called Wood Shrimp or Fan Shrimp feed differently than most shrimp in the hobby. Rather than scavenging the substrate, they position themselves in areas of flow, extend their fan-like front appendages, and filter microscopic particles directly out of the water column. Watching them feed is one of the more unusual behaviors you'll see in a freshwater tank.
Their large size, calm temperament, and distinctive feeding behavior make them a good fit for established planted aquariums with strong water flow. They need good water quality and a mature, microorganism-rich tank to do well.
