Blyxa japonica grows in a tight, star-shaped rosette of fine, grass-like leaves that radiates outward from a central point a form that reads more like a land plant than typical aquarium fare, which is part of its appeal in Nature Aquarium layouts.
Given good light and CO₂, the leaves take on warm golden-green to bronze tones. It grows in clumps, propagating through side shoots, and gradually builds into a full midground grouping over a few months rather than spreading aggressively.
Sold as a potted plant.

Notes
Doesn't transplant well once its root system is disturbed, so plant it once in its final position rather than moving it around. May melt back temporarily after introduction; leave the base in place, as regrowth is common.
