Sex Male Female

Native to the Congo River basin, the Congo Tetra is a large, robust schooling fish known for scales that flash blue, gold, and orange under aquarium lighting. Males grow long, flowing extensions on their central tail fins, giving them a distinctive silhouette as they move through the water.

This species does best in slightly acidic, tannin-rich water, making it a natural fit for blackwater-style setups with driftwood and subdued lighting. Congo Tetras are peaceful, active mid-water swimmers and should be kept in groups of six or more.
