Downoi takes its name from the Thai for "little star," a reference to the deeply crinkled, star-shaped rosettes its leaves form. It's an unusual enough texture that little else in the hobby looks quite like it.
It stays compact and low, spreading slowly through side shoots, and does best in soft, slightly acidic water with CO₂ and consistent fertilization. Nature Aquarium enthusiasts tend to reach for it specifically for that unusual form and the ease of placing it precisely in a detailed layout.
Sold as a potted plant.
