Dwarf Hairgrass is a popular choice for anyone building a carpeted foreground. Its fine, grass-like blades grow low and dense, forming a green carpet that gives a tank a natural landscape look.
Native to North America and parts of Europe, Dwarf Hairgrass needs high light and does best with CO2 injection to carpet well. It spreads through runners, gradually filling in the foreground with a thick, even mat of green.
It's well suited to aquascaping, giving shrimp and small fish a natural habitat while adding depth to a layout. With patience and the right light and CO2 setup, Dwarf Hairgrass fills in into a full, even carpet.
