Elephant Skin Stone, also called Keishi Stone, takes its name from a deeply furrowed, wrinkled surface texture that closely mirrors the look of elephant hide. That raw, organic surface reads as convincingly natural in a way smoother rock types don't quite manage.

Its gray to dark charcoal coloring works with substrates of any shade, and the complex grooves and folds across the surface give mosses and ferns plenty of places to take hold — the same grooves can also be used to draw the eye through a layout. Each piece is inert and unique, so shape, texture, and color will vary from what's pictured.

Product Information

Style: Dark gray to charcoal, deeply furrowed wrinkled surface
Best for: Nature aquarium, wabi-kusa, detailed rocky scapes
pH Range: Inert (does not significantly affect water chemistry)
Safe for: Freshwater aquariums
Please note: As a natural product, each piece is unique. Shape, texture, and color will vary from images shown.

Notes

Rinse well before use — the deeply furrowed surface traps fine dust and sediment that can cloud the water on first placement. Pieces are irregular and often hollow-featured, so test stack arrangements outside the tank first.
