Fittonia, commonly called the Nerve Plant, has thin, intricate veining running through each leaf in patterns of red, white, or pink set against dark green foliage. No two varieties look quite the same, and the effect is more delicate than most foliage plants.

It stays compact and low-growing, and does best in the high humidity found inside a terrarium, vivarium, or paludarium — outside of that kind of enclosure it tends to struggle and wilt quickly. Given the right humidity, it spreads into a dense, patterned mat of foliage, which is why it turns up so often in terrarium and vivarium builds. This listing may include Red Veined, White Veined, or Pink Veined varieties depending on availability.

Product Information

Light: Low to medium indirect — avoid direct sun
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist — wilts noticeably when dry but recovers quickly
Humidity: High humidity essential — best in a terrarium or humid environment
Difficulty: Easy in humid environments; moderate in dry conditions
Pet Safe: Non-toxic to cats and dogs

Notes

Wilts dramatically the moment it dries out but usually rebounds within hours once watered — don't panic at a droopy plant, but repeated drying will cause permanent leaf loss. Struggles outside high-humidity environments.
