Flame Moss grows upright in loose, twisting strands that spiral like small tongues of flame — a distinctly different silhouette from the flatter growth of most other aquarium mosses, and easy to pick out once you know what to look for.
It attaches readily to driftwood, rock, or mesh and grows at a moderate, manageable pace. Shrimp and fry use it for cover, and it doesn't need CO₂ to do well, so it fits into low-tech and high-tech setups alike.
Sold as a golf ball-sized portion.

Ships attached to a small mat or loose as a portion — tie or glue it to hardscape rather than burying it in substrate, where it will rot. New growth may grow flat at first before developing its characteristic upright spiral form.
