Few plants are as forgiving as Java Moss. Its dense, feathery green growth fills out a tank quickly and gives fry, shrimp, and small fish plenty of places to hide and forage.
Native to Southeast Asia, Java Moss attaches easily to driftwood, rocks, and mesh without needing any substrate at all. It handles a wide range of water conditions, gets by on low to medium light, and needs no CO2, which puts it near the top of the list for easiest plants to keep alive.
Whether you're setting up a breeding tank, a shrimp colony, or a natural-style aquascape, Java Moss adds texture and function that's hard to replace with anything else in a freshwater aquarium.
