Monstera deliciosa is grown for its large, glossy leaves, which develop the natural splits and perforations it's known for as the plant matures younger leaves tend to be solid, with fenestrations appearing gradually over time. It has become a widely recognized houseplant, and the look is distinctive without being fussy to maintain.
Given bright indirect light, Monstera grows at a steady pace and rewards consistent care with progressively larger, more deeply split leaves. Its broad leaf surface area also makes it one of the more effective houseplants for filtering indoor air, and it brings a lush, tropical feel to whatever room it's placed in.
