The Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum wallisii) produces glossy, dark green foliage and white spathe blooms that appear periodically throughout the year. It's one of the few flowering houseplants that will still bloom in low light, which makes it a practical option for rooms that don't get much sun.
Peace Lilies are commonly grown above open-top aquariums, where their roots draw excess nitrates out of the water while the plant benefits from the humidity and moisture. They ask for little in return — consistent soil moisture and average care — and will droop visibly when they need a drink, so it's easy to tell when it's time to water.
