Tradescantia sold as Spiderwort or Wandering Dude depending on the variety is a fast-growing trailing plant with foliage that ranges from purple and silver to green and pink, most notably in the Purple Heart and Zebrina forms. Color intensity shifts with the amount of light it gets, with brighter conditions producing more saturated tones.
It's easy to propagate a stem cutting placed in water will root within days and grows quickly enough that a single cutting can fill out a pot in a season. It tolerates a fairly wide range of indoor conditions, though it trails and colors up best with a bit more light than a typical low-light houseplant.
