Spiderwood, also sold as Azalea Root, is known for its fine, web-like branching — tendrils extend outward in every direction, mimicking the look of submerged tree roots or a tangled forest floor. Each piece has its own shape, so the wood you receive will differ from any reference photo.

Compared to other driftwoods, Spiderwood sinks fairly quickly and releases a mild tannin that gives the water a light tea-colored tint — a welcome effect in blackwater setups and for soft-water fish. Soaking it for 24–48 hours before adding it to the tank will cut down on tannin release and help it sink faster. It's also a good anchor point for mosses, ferns, and Anubias.
