Malaysian Trumpet Snail (Melanoides Tuberculata)

Malaysian Trumpet Snails do their most important work out of sight. Their slender, pointed conical shells are attractive enough on their own, but the real benefit is underground: MTS burrow continuously through the substrate, aerating it and preventing the buildup of toxic anaerobic gas pockets.

Nocturnal by nature, they stay buried during the day and emerge at night to scavenge, functioning as a largely invisible maintenance crew. They're completely safe with all fish and shrimp and reproduce at a modest rate that rarely becomes a problem in a balanced tank.
